The Namesake

In a word, it's a superb novel. One of the best last chapters that I've read in any of the books so far. I just loved the way the author draws a close to the story. Every feeling, every thought, every emotion...I could feel it as much as the characters in the book.
A must read in my opinion!

And the following day, I watched the movie. With awesome cinematography and peachy direction, an adaptation from the book couldn't have been better, though I feel that it could be made a bit longer. The director seemed to be constrained to wrap up in 2 hours only. Nevertheless, it was a well made movie, doing justice to the book.
Yet it reaffirms my belief that however good a movie based on a novel may be, it would never be appreciated more than the book.

dude.. the movie is the author's interpretation of the novel...

and no two people on earth have the exact same thought pattern...

Mira Nair.. choose to make a film on her interpretation of the book.. and its a FACT that movies inspired from books cant fully justify the book..

and yes its a nice movie... i am yet read to the book.. !!

well haven't got the chance to read the book as yet but watched the movie recently and liked it a lot
i can't say much about this adaptation but from previous experience i can say that it is rarely that a movie lives upto the book
i am sure anyone who has read The Godfather and watched the movies as well would agree even though the series was a class apart it was no match for the book
